Here is a list of the blog post assigned questions or topics for each step:

Step #1: Blogs

Each time you complete a step, you will need to go back to the Blog you created in Step 1 and post so we know that you have completed that step.  Your post title should read: Step #X: Name of Step (eg. Step #1: Blogs)

  •  Have you thought about ways we can add blogs to our library site? Add your ideas for those possibilities to your blog. We'd love to read them!
  •  Let us know how you liked setting up your blog and problems or questions you had.

You should now register your blog. Email prkref@prpl.org and give the name and address (URL) of your blog.  Let us know if you wish to share your blog with other staff or just keep it to yourself and the "Wired" Team. (Note: Brandee will be the only staff member to receive emails with your blog information.)

Step #2: Flickr

Write a blog entry about your experience with this task.

  • How can our Library make use of a Flickr page?
  • Suggest two or three tags that would be most useful for the Library's Flickr page
  • Would you use Flickr at home?  Why?

Step #3: YouTube

After you have viewed the videos, go to your blog. Post the location (URL) of the videos with a description.

Step #4: RSS

After 5-7 days, write a post on your blog telling what new and interesting things you have found out about or maybe recommend a great blog you found to us. You can also tell us:

  • What do you like about RSS and feed readers?
  • How could this be used at the library or at your home

  • If you are already addicted to feed readers, tell us why and how you got hooked.

Step #5: OneStop Search

Write a post about your experience.  When do you think it would be better to use One Stop Search than going to a specific database?  Did any of the databases that had hits surprise you? Did the database that had the most information surprise you?

Step #6: Wikis

  •   Search for a different topic on each site. Describe the different resources on your blog. Would you use a wiki for information? What are the benefits and drawbacks to finding information this way? What do you like or dislike about using a Wiki? Tell us what you think on your blog.
  • Once you have posted to the wiki, tell us what you added to Wikipedia on your blog.

Step #7: Instant Messaging (IM) and Ask a Librarian

  • Now tell us on your blog who you IMed and what you asked them or talked about
  • How is this different than the usual way you ask questions at the Library?
  • Which way do you like best?  Can you think of times when each method could be helpful?   Post about your experience in your blog.

Step #8: Overdrive

Write a blog post about your experience with downloading a book.

Step #9: Social Networking

Create a blog post about your experience.

  • What features do you like or dislike about the site(s) you visited?
  • What do you think makes them so popular?
