ALL WIRED UP: In the Stacks

AWU 2008 Home  |  AWU: Freestyle Home | FAQ  | Contact a Team Member | Prizes

Welcome to the 2009 All Wired Up training.  This year, you will choose between two different areas to focus your training on:  Premium Resources and Technolgy Tools the Library uses to communicate with staff and patrons.  You will need to complete a minimum of four hours of training.  The maximum number of hours allowed for training is eight. If you missed the AWU informational meetings on December 15, you can listen to the audio from the 1:00 pm meeting by copying and pasting this link into your browser at the library:

K:\apps\staffdoc\WPDOC\All Wired Up\AWUkickoff.mp3

To get started, fill out the form and turn it into your manager.

Please see the following pages for what you will need to do for each of the topics listed below.

Premium Resources

Choose one database that you will get to know inside and out and then pick three more that you will look at more broadly.  For the in depth look at one database, you will prepare a resource for staff who did not look at it to give them an idea of what the database offers. Because we have so many databases, we will not have a separate page for each.  You can check out the general information Premium Resources page for more information. For each database you review, you will need to fill out a review

Technology Tools

Choose four technologies that you will learn, use, and contribute to.  For each one, you will need to fill out a form detailing why we offer this, one interesting thing you learned, one frustration you had and any recommendations you have.  Here is a list of the technologies we use in the library to communicate with each other and the public.

Debbie, I am not able to open the 'Forms' file. I need to get this form remotely, since I won't be in to the library until after the Dec. 22nd deadline. Probably the file is created in Word 2007 and my highest word is 2000, so it won't open. Can you email me a text version? Or what? Thanks....

I e-mailed an RTF version of the form to Mary K. If anyone else needs that version, just let me know (you can post a message here or e-mail dwinarski@prpl.org)
